MFA Candidate News:
Janna Knittel's review of Gerald Vizenor's book Favor of Crows appeared in Rain Taxi, and her interview with Vizenor will appear in the fall issue of Great River Review. Her review of Brenda Hillman's book Seasonal Works with Letters on Fire will appear in the winter issue of Pleiades.
Elizabeth O'Brien's poems appeared in Josephine Quarterly and Ampersand Review over the summer and in the new issue of Whiskey Island.
Nicholas Tiso has an essay forthcoming in n+1's City by City series. He also has a review of David Wolach's poetry book Hospitalogy, forthcoming in Tripwire issue 7.
MFA Alumnae/i News:
Aaron Apps (MFA 2013) won the the 2014 Sawtooth Poetry Prize for his manuscript Dear Herculine. He will receive the $1,500 prize in addition to the publication of his book by Ahsahta Press in January 2015. His second book, Intersex: A Memoir, is forthcoming from Tarpaulin Sky Press in 2014.
Chad Dayton (MFA 2003) serves as director of youth education programs and partner relationships for the Minneapolis-based Wilderness Inquiry; he was profiled in a MinnPost article in July.
Julie Gard (MFA 2000), author of Obscura: The Daguerreotype Series (Finishing Line Press, 2007), won the New Rivers Press Many Voices Project in poetry, winning $1000 and publication. Gard's poetry collection, Home Studies, will be released in October 2015.
Molly Sutton Kiefer (MFA 2012) started a new online literary magazine, Tinderbox Poetry Journal.
Merie Kirby (MFA 1996) published the poetry chapbook The Dog Runs On with Finishing Line Press.
Carrie Lorig (MFA 2014) published Being Stone / The War Between the States, a joint e-chapbook with Nick Sturm on Big Lucks, 2014. A full-length book The Pulp vs. The Throne (Artifice Books), will be out in 2015.
Eireann Lorsung (MFA 2006) has received final permissions and an official tourist board plaque for Dickinson House and will be soft-launching the "writers' and artists' residency center and literary B&B" this fall. General applications for residencies will be accepted beginning in December. Lorsung was a writer-in-residence at East Lake Street's Little Poetry Library in Minneapolis this summer; the residency is part of Coffee House Press's CHP In the Stacks program.
Zoe Miller (MFA 2014) published the short story "Wish Sandwiches" in Fields Magazine.
Scott F. Parker (MFA 2014) edited Conversations with Ken Kesey, which was published by the University Press of Mississippi.
Claire Miye Stanford (MFA 2012) published a story, "Two Weeks After My Thirty-Fifth Birthday," with Word Riot.
Josh Wallaert (MFA 2007) published the poetry chapbook A Guide to the Northwest Territory with Miel Books in 2013.
Shana Youngdahl (MFA 2006) published the poetry chapbook Winter/Windows with Miel Books in 2013.
